Red Network Event: Future-proofing Our Careers

Red is our favourite women's lifestyle magazine and we love attending Red Networking Events. Unlike many events in the murky pool of networking, Red Magazine always offers a super-charged balance of networking with like-minded business women and an opportunity to hear from a panel of inspirational, influential speakers that offer guidance and vital nuggets of worthwhile, valuable advice to take away.
Networking in London

At the beginning of June, at the largest event turn-out yet, we heard from Tamara Heber-Percy, co-founder of luxury travel experts Mr & Mrs Smith, Sasha Wilkins, creator of the Liberty London Girl blog (that's not her real name you know!) and Wendy Tan White, CEO of website-building company Moonfruit. What a great line-up!
Stand-out words of wisdom included Tamara describing Mr & Mrs Smith having been born out of a frustration at the traditional way travel companies were supposed to engage with customers, and revolutionising the dusty travel book into a digital, global e-commerce business.
We heard from Wendy about her ah-ha! moment when she realised that customers using Moonfruit to create their own websites in a less 'techy' way, would indeed pay for the service and from this, these loyal users became valuable brand advocates.
As with all the Red Networking Events we've attended, there were many questions put to the panel on the topic of social media; where to start and how to use it successfully. It got us thinking that we know social media isnt rocket-science, but there are some simple questions being asked out there that need answering simply & honestly without any confusing jargon. We need to fill those start-up entrepreneurs with the confidence to debate, discuss and understand social media and give them the tools to make it work for their business and industry.

It ended on the most down-to-earth moment when Tamara offered Red Networkers her email address in case we wanted any travel advice, or recommendations of great hotels to stay in. If you do, she is your girl!
Red Magazine hosts a number of events, all with a different focus, but always with an over-arching theme of creating a place where creative, successful, brave and inspirational women can meet and discuss how we can keep moving forward.
Find out about Red Magazine Network Events, we would certainly recommend!
